Golden Finance reported that on July 23, Google (GOOG.US) is adding a selfie video login feature to provide another option for users who can’t log in due to lost devices or forgotten passwords. Users can set up a selfie video through a short online process that includes several guided head movements, enabling the device camera to capture multiple angles. Google’s parent company Alphabet said on Thursday that the stored recordings will be used to compare against real-time video submitted by users during subsequent logins. Google has been testing various verification methods, and the use cases aren’t limited to account logins. For example, in partnership with third-party company Private ID, Google uses selfie verification to confirm users’ age to ensure they can access age-restricted content.
