Odaily Star Daily News: The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced that it will hold a roundtable on September 17, 2026 to discuss matters related to advancing the U.S. stock market toward a 24-hour trading model. The meeting will focus on preparations to support overnight trading, operating and building resilience for an around-the-clock market, as well as opportunities and challenges in expanding trading hours.

SEC Chair Paul S. Atkins said that the U.S. stock market is moving toward “a new day and night.” As overnight trading expands, the U.S. stock market is expected to align with global markets that already support continuous trading, while also needing to balance investor protection and market stability.

The roundtable will be held at the SEC headquarters in Washington and will be livestreamed via the SEC website. The SEC said that specific agenda items and information on participating guests will be released afterward, and the public will be invited to submit comments on 24-hour trading.
