#跟单日记 Can you make money with copy-trading in the crypto market? What are the risks of copy-trading?
Many traders have gone through copy-trading, or are currently experiencing it, because in the eyes of many traders, copy-trading is the simplest way to trade—you just need to find the right person. It looks like a shortcut to “make money while lying down,” but in reality it hands all your fate to someone else. So where are the risk points in copy-trading? Can you make money? I’ll share some of my thoughts and hope we can all learn together!
1、What you see may not be real.
First, those profitable trade orders you see are only what they want you to see; the losing trades won’t be shown to you.
Second, what you see might be just one account. The other account may be trading in the opposite direction. Whichever account ends up being correct is the one they show.
2、A test of ethics and self-interest.
Most “signal provider” teachers’ earnings are tied to their trading volume, not to the copy-trader’s profits. They don’t care how much you make—they just trade frequently so they can earn more commission. In even worse cases, they may collude with some non-compliant small exchanges to “split the losses” of users.
3、Risks in the copy-trader’s own cognition and behavior
Treating copy-trading as a way to get something for nothing, thereby giving up your own learning and independent thinking. Without position management, each time you copy you go in with a full position. Even when you see consecutive profits, you blindly add more; when you see consecutive losses, you blindly stop losses. When you’re making money, you want to make even more—at that point, no one telling you to exit matters. You always think you can take a big bite out of it, and after losses you still don’t strictly follow a stop-loss strategy—you hold on.
These are the risk areas, but not all copy-trading is risky. If your goal is to learn other people’s trading experience and methods, then your approach will be completely different.
The trading market is ruthless by nature, but it’s also fair. The road you should take won’t be missing even a single step. Ordinary traders only absorb painful lessons after experiencing them, and then slowly reflect and grow. But great traders can learn lessons from others’ failures and take fewer detours. When you want to trade by following someone else, you should calm down and think: what can copy-trading really bring you? Can it truly help you make money?
