Japan’s first Bitcoin ETF—really coming.

The fastest target is 2028. The Financial Services Agency is revising investment trust rules, and crypto assets are about to be officially included in the compliant channel.
Multiple large asset managers are already evaluating; the potential size could be as high as 3 trillion Japanese yen.
It’s still in the stage of rule changes plus institutional preparation—so the product hasn’t been approved yet. But once the channel opens, Japanese funds will truly enter at scale—that’s the real incremental to watch.

Although 2028 is still far away, once the channel is opened, the scale of Japanese large asset management entering could reach as much as 3 trillion yen—so it is definitely worth paying attention in advance, but don’t be too hasty before regulation is implemented.
