Deep Tide TechFlow message: On July 23, according to Business Insider, Amazon is vigorously restructuring the AI architecture of Alexa+, routing more requests to its own in-house models, and reducing calls to the Anthropic Claude model through a caching mechanism, while also optimizing GPU utilization to compress operating expenses. Internal documents show that AWS cloud costs for Alexa+ are expected to reach about $1.7 billion in 2026, nearly tripling from the previous year, and exceeding the target cost by around 60%. Even though internal estimates have identified about $450 million in potential savings, the internal assessment still believes the business will be difficult to meet its financial goals. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy previously publicly emphasized the urgency of reducing AI inference costs, and this architecture adjustment is the execution of that strategic direction.
