Developers turned ChatGPT Work into a temporary VPS: 9-core cloud environment with SSH access, according to monitoring by @动察 Beating. ChatGPT Work is OpenAI’s newly launched general-purpose Agent, which can continuously process files and execute tasks in the cloud for several hours. Developers have found that a Linux cloud environment runs behind it, and they successfully remotely accessed it from a local computer. The cloud environment for Pro members has 9 CPU cores, about 21GB of memory, and 63GB of disk. After connecting, users can directly edit files or install software using a terminal, VS Code, and Cursor. However, this is not a server with fixed allocation.
OpenAI has not disclosed the environment’s uptime duration, file retention rules, or service guarantees. When the session ends or the environment is replaced, processes may disappear, and files also can’t be guaranteed to remain intact. #AI
