Sometimes I think we forget how different modern work is from what previous generations had to endure.

You can sit in an air-conditioned office.
Work from a laptop.
Send emails.
Build spreadsheets.
Take a lunch break.
And still spend the day complaining about how hard your job is.
Meanwhile, your grandparents may have spent their entire lives doing physically exhausting work just to survive.
No remote work.
No workplace safety standards like we have today.
No air conditioning.
No guaranteed weekends.
No comfortable retirement waiting at the end.
That doesn’t mean you aren’t allowed to be unhappy with your job.
But perspective matters.
You may not have the perfect career.
You may not love your boss.
You may even be underpaid.
But if your biggest problem at work is answering emails from an air-conditioned office, it’s worth remembering how fortunate you are to live in an era where work can be this comfortable.
Gratitude doesn’t mean settling.
It just means recognizing how far we’ve come.
