Verus Ethereum Cross Chain Bridge Exploited, $7.53M Stolen
The Verus Ethereum cross chain bridge has suffered a security breach, with approximately $7.53 million drained to an address beginning with 0xCFd0, according to blockchain security firm CertiK.
• Around $7.53 million was withdrawn from the bridge.
• The stolen funds were traced to a wallet starting with 0xCFd0.
• CertiK believes the exploit may have occurred because the bridge failed to verify whether the amount submitted on the Verus side matched the actual payment amount.
• The suspected vulnerability is similar to the flaw behind a previous security incident reported in May.
The attack highlights the continued security challenges facing cross chain bridges, where validation logic remains a common target for exploits. Investigations are ongoing, and users are advised to monitor official updates from the Verus team and avoid interacting with the affected bridge until more information is released
