Golden Finance News reported that on July 23, Alphabet Inc. once again raised its already high 2026 capital expenditure outlook and told investors that as the company steps up the construction of the necessary computing power to support its AI ambitions, spending could exceed $200 billion. The Google parent company expects 2026 capital expenditures to range from $195 billion to $205 billion, higher than the company’s previously highest guidance of $190 billion and also above the average analyst expectation of about $186 billion. The raised guidance reflects that the company is accelerating the expansion of its AI computing power and aiming to earn more revenue from cloud computing customers. This outlook may further intensify investors’ scrutiny of Alphabet’s AI investments. Wall Street has been looking for evidence that the company’s large-scale investment in AI is driving new growth rather than weighing on profits. As the first large U.S. tech company to release results in this earnings season, Alphabet’s performance will influence market expectations for the entire tech industry, which collectively has pledged to invest hundreds of billions of dollars in AI infrastructure. The capital expenditure guidance masks the company’s originally solid second-quarter performance. In the quarter ended June 30, cloud business revenue was $24.77 billion, up 82% year over year, and above analysts’ expectations of $22.46 billion. Cloud backlog orders increased to $514B. Later on Wednesday evening, CEO Sundar Pichai said on the company’s call with analysts that cloud business performance has “benefited from strong demand for AI infrastructure and AI solutions.”
