SK hynix surged and then pulled back; the top short seller increased its short positions in Samsung and SK hynix to $46 million

Deep Tide TechFlow message: On July 23, according to monitoring by Hyperinsight, SK Hynix (SKHX) opened at $1,295 today, up 4.1% from yesterday’s closing price. After the open, it surged to a high of $1,324.9, with the gain briefly widening to 6.5%, before falling back to $1,267.05, a pullback of 4.4% from the high point.

Starting with 0xebe1, the whale has continued over the past two days to simultaneously short SK Hynix and Samsung (SMSN), adding a combined net short of 6,118.2 SKHX and 12,997.4 SMSN. It added an incremental notional short exposure of approximately $10.1143 million, with the position increase up to 9:00 this morning.

As of the time of publication, it holds an SKHX short position with 10x leverage, with an average entry price of $1,320.9. The position value is approximately $42.78M, and the liquidation price is about $2,005.1. It is currently up roughly $1.83M, for a return rate of about 41%, and it is already the largest SKHX short on Hyperliquid.

The Samsung short position with 10x leverage has an average entry price of $177.9. The position value is approximately $3.27M, with an unrealized loss of about $55k. The two short positions combined have a total value of approximately $46.05M, with a combined unrealized profit of about $1.779M.

Regarding pending orders, it has placed a sell order for 500 SKHX at $1,272.5 (approximately $636.3k) and a sell order for 1,000 SMSN at $181.61 (approximately $181.6k), reserving capacity to continue adding shorts. In addition, there is 1 buy-to-cover order each for 200 SKHX and 300 SMSN, with the combined amount totaling approximately $306.2k, which is only a small fraction of the overall short position size.
