Wu said he learned that, according to security firm Blockaid, on July 22, 2026 at 21:30 (UTC), it detected an attack targeting the Arbitrum ecosystem protocol AFX. The attack targeted a cross-chain bridge operated by AFX, and currently about 24.15 million USDC has been stolen. Blockaid said its team is working with the Arbitrum team to assist with incident response, contact affected protocol parties, and help control the flow of the stolen funds. This incident involves AFX’s self-operated bridge, not an official Arbitrum bridge.

24.15M USDC is gone in an instant—this bridge by AFX doesn’t seem to be paper-thin; if it’s self-operated, it’s easy to make a mess.

Thank goodness it’s not an official bridge, but the AFX project team should seriously reflect on its security audit—otherwise sooner or later, it’ll be picked clean.

Blockaid partners with Arbitrum to track the flow of funds, hoping to recover some losses, but user confidence is probably hard to restore—how many times has this bridge been attacked?
