Trading crypto: the dumber the method, the more it works. Today I’ll share a few dumb rules I’ve used for a long time. They might not sound nice, but they work.

First, three things you should never do.
Never buy when prices are going up. When things are rising, chasing in most likely means you’re the one left holding the bag for someone else. Conversely, when prices fall and you dare to reach in—that’s the real entry point where you can actually capture profit. Getting excited when it’s up and panicked when it’s down is most people’s instinct, but the ones who make money do the opposite. Turn “dare to buy when it drops” into a habit, and you can at least avoid half the traps.
Never overcommit with a full order. Betting all your chips in one direction means that once it goes the other way, there’s no room to adjust. What the market fears most isn’t being wrong—it’s being wrong with no way to recover. Keep your ammo; if you’re wrong, you can still change course.
Never go all-in. After going all-in you become extremely passive—when opportunities come you don’t have money to add, and when risks arrive you can’t run. This market lacks opportunities the most; keep some cash so when you see a chance you can act.
Now a few short-term habits. After a period of consolidation at high levels, it usually makes a new high; after consolidation at low levels, it often makes a new low. Don’t rush to act until the direction of the breakout is clear. When price is moving sideways, don’t trade—most people who lose money can’t stick to this rule. When the daily candle closes red, look for chances to buy; when it closes green, look for chances to sell. Follow the emotion of the K-line rather than guessing wildly on your own.

If it drops slowly, the rebound is usually slow too; if it drops fast, the rebound is what gets急. Build your position using a pyramid approach: enter in batches and always leave yourself a way out. After big pumps or big dumps, it’s inevitable to enter sideways consolidation—don’t chase and don’t rush to cut. Wait until the breakout signal shows up, then make your decision.
These rules don’t sound exciting, but they can keep you from taking fewer tumbles.
