In crypto, the most painful word is always “break even.”

The more you stare at it, the more likely it is to trap you. When you’re up 5%, you panic and rush to exit, afraid that unrealized gains will evaporate; when you’re down, you hold on with a stubborn death-grip, convinced that if you just wait a bit longer you’ll come back. In the end, the money never returns, and the principal keeps shrinking. Then when a big opportunity finally arrives, you’re out of the game.

Many people don’t lack the skill to make small profits—they lack the judgment and nerve to catch the big moves. Don’t waste all your time thinking about “break even.” First, open up your thinking. Once your rhythm is steady, you’ll be able to catch opportunities when they come.

I used to figure out how long it would take me to get back to my costs every day, but the more I calculated, the more I ended up losing. Later, I stopped worrying about it—and somehow I ended up making money instead.

Break even? That’s just an illusion. The real people who make money don’t do it by “getting your money back”—they set things up. Don’t focus on petty sums.

Many people’s problems are not that their skills aren’t up to the task—it’s that their mindset gets trapped by the desire to “break even.” When it rises a little, they run; when it falls, they stubbornly hold on. In the end, they end up as “greens” being harvested. You need to break out of this cycle and focus on the bigger trend.

You’re absolutely right—getting your money back is a curse.
