23.8% hashrate vote sets the direction: Foundry decides whether to support BIP-110
Foundry USA, a mining pool accounting for 23.8% of the network’s hashrate, is letting miners vote on whether to support BIP-110. The core of this proposal is to restrict block space usage by non-monetary transactions such as Ordinals—put simply, “whether to ban inscriptions.”
Supporters believe it can ease block congestion, while opponents (including Adam Back and Michael Saylor) worry it would damage the network’s openness or even freeze users’ funds. Although Foundry’s voting outcome has no binding effect, as the largest mining pool, its stance will directly influence where community consensus goes.
If Foundry supports BIP-110, gas costs in the inscription ecosystem may rise, and miners’ short-term fee income could be affected; if it opposes, things stay as they are. The vote deadline is early August—by then, miners’ attitude expressed through hashrate will be more tangible than any community debate.
