Polygon Ithaca Hard Fork to Go Live on Mainnet, Aiming to Fully Ensure Stable and Reliable Network Payments
On July 22, the Polygon Foundation announced that the Ithaca hard fork has been successfully deployed on the Amoy testnet, and is scheduled to go live on the mainnet at block height 50,185,000 (expected 22:00 Beijing time on July 29).
The core goal of this upgrade is to significantly enhance the reliability of network payments by automatically triggering a failover mechanism when rare block production stalls occur, ensuring that transaction processing is not affected by interruptions.
To further safeguard overall network stability, the Ithaca hard fork also introduces a brand-new protective mechanism that can effectively intercept abnormal transactions that may cause the network to slow down or become unstable.
Meanwhile, the upgrade provides node operators with clearer visibility into network operations, enabling them to monitor the status of underlying infrastructure in real time and ensuring seamless handoffs and coordinated operation across all components.
Given that this upgrade involves adjustments to the network’s core mechanisms, the Polygon Foundation advises that all node operators must complete the upgrade work promptly to ensure full compatibility with the new protocol and to maintain overall network security.
Overall, this upgrade will not only effectively improve the user experience and strengthen developers’ confidence—laying a technical foundation for the long-term healthy development of the Polygon ecosystem—but will also help Polygon move toward a more mature and stable blockchain public chain.
