Russia’s crypto asset law has passed the lower house and is moving toward enactment. Rather than regulating the crypto system similar to Turkey, Russian companies struggling with sanctions will now be able to legally use cryptocurrencies in international trade. After it takes effect, a significant increase is expected first in stablecoin trading volume; more broadly, it should be positive for altcoins as it will make individual investing easier as well. Trump had repeatedly tried to coax China into creating a legalized crypto economy but couldn’t succeed—Russia’s return to the market in this area could provide substantial benefits to the right market.
