Iran has proposed a 10-day ceasefire in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump demanded that Tehran “pay the price.”

According to The Jerusalem Post, Tehran has put forward a ceasefire plan to take effect on July 21 for 10 days. The proposal was submitted by the United States to mediators in Qatar, Egypt, Oman, and Pakistan. The ceasefire is intended to address freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, including a proposed measure to open a “transit corridor” for commercial vessels.

U.S. officials revealed that Washington is seeking to extend the ceasefire pause period and to reach partial agreements on Hormuz shipping passage before the ceasefire comes into effect. One official said that President Trump is working to make Iran “pay the price” in response to the consequences arising from alleged violations and actions that led to the deaths of U.S. service members; while some government officials believe Iran’s proposal is “absurd and illogical.” #事件合约上线
