7.20 evening breaking news on the situation in the Middle East: signals of easing tensions between Iran and the US have emerged. Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially confirmed that a third-party mediator has put forward a brand-new mediation and consultation plan. Multiple coordinating forces continue to push forward and stay active, trying to ease the current conflict in the region.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei publicly stated that there is no need to choose between war measures and diplomatic talks; “confrontation on one side and negotiations on the other” is not incompatible. Iran will take corresponding actions entirely based on the country’s core interests.
On the other hand, US Secretary of State Rubio has also sent signals indicating willingness to engage in diplomatic contacts. However, the US side remains on high alert, concerned that Iran may use shipping resources in the Strait of Hormuz as negotiating chips.
News of US military casualties over the past two days briefly boosted the market’s risk-averse sentiment. Now that news of talks has surfaced, geopolitical risk has cooled somewhat. The volatility logic for crude oil and risk assets has started to shift. Going forward, closely track the progress of negotiations on both sides; given the likelihood of back-and-forth, position sizing must be strictly controlled. #美军结束对伊朗新一轮打击
