Hong Kong 🇭🇰 Exchange considers extending stock trading hours and canceling the lunch break
Bloomberg cited sources familiar with the matter: the Hong Kong Exchange is considering extending stock trading hours and canceling the lunch break. One proposal is that the exchange would bring forward the stock trading start time by 30 minutes, shifting it to begin at 9:00 AM, and eliminate the one-hour lunch break from 12:00 PM.
Sources said that the Hong Kong Exchange is also considering adding an after-hours trading session to capture U.S. pre-market trading activity, with timing possibly between 8:00 PM and midnight. They added that the Hong Kong Exchange would still close at 4:00 PM to allow for clearing and settlement.
