From what I can see from the country’s vacation agenda: in the past, the wealthy would go on vacations abroad, while the middle class would do more touristy domestic trips. Now, the wealthy are doing domestic tourism, while the middle class—like salaried employees, etc.—is going abroad. The places in Turkey that cater to the upper segment are packed, but there’s a problem on the tourism side that serves the middle segment. Most people are in “I’m not rich enough to vacation in Turkey” mode, and they’re not wrong either.
