I went back over my account again today—the numbers in the floating loss section jumping around faster than my heartbeat. The floating profit, on the other hand, just lies there quietly. To be honest, I’m pretty scared of losing money, but even more than that is this: even though I know volatility is the salt in breakfast, I still end up having my mouthful of bitterness “seasoned” by loss aversion. Lately, the little macro drama—rate-cut expectations rising alongside the US dollar index—has also had risk assets getting messed around for no reason, leaving my options orders feeling like they’re being yanked from both sides, not a human in sight. Anyway, I’m used to treating the funding rate like a thermometer: when it gets cold, I put on a sweater; when it gets hot, I peel off a layer. Don’t let your emotions scorch the position. What I fear most isn’t the loss itself—it’s that, because I’m afraid of losing, I throw the bread I could’ve eaten straight into the trash.
