China’s AI spending is only 1/10 of the United States’? I see a lot of people discussing this line, and I think it’s extremely stupid. The U.S. spends more on AI and therefore has more compute resources. And it’s not as if all spending is just to train the strongest AI model. Even if China becomes the top open-source model kingdom in the future, it still needs compute power to provide services to users—doesn’t it still have to seek compute? How did they come to a conclusion that the U.S. is wasting money?
