$BTC BTC Bitcoin is trading near $ 64,000 as the week wraps up, holding onto most of this week's recovery after climbing back above $ 65,000 earlier on July 15 a 3.5% daily gain and roughly 4% for the week, driven mainly by softer-than-expected US inflation data.
Institutional flows are the story to watch. After a brutal June the worst month on record for spot BTC ETFs, with $ 4.5B in outflows , flows reversed hard in early July: over $ 500M came back in across three sessions, ending a 10-day, $ 2.7B outflow streak. Notably, BlackRock's IBIT led some of the strongest inflow days, which matters because IBIT is widely seen as the cleanest proxy for large, long-term institutional conviction (versus tactical dip-buying from smaller funds).
The macro calendar into next week is heavy:
The Fed's next meeting is July 28–29, with markets pricing roughly a 70% chance of a hold , a hawkish surprise remains the bigger tail risk, not a cut.
The CLARITY Act hearing in the House today is one of the last real legislative windows before the summer recess, and could shape institutional access to crypto markets going forward.
Geopolitical risk (ongoing US-Iran tension) continues to keep macro volatility elevated, which historically spills into thin weekend crypto liquidity.
What "smart money" behavior looks like right now: rather than aggressive re-entry, this looks like cautious repositioning , inflows are real but not yet at the pace seen during BTC's earlier uptrends, and corporate treasuries continue adding to holdings even as some leveraged players stay cautious after June's flush.
Heading into the weekend, the setup is: momentum has improved, but conviction is still being rebuilt trade by trade, not headline by headline. Thin weekend liquidity means moves can be exaggerated in either direction — worth keeping in mind before reading too much into any single weekend candle.
