USDT goes back to native Bitcoin issuance, and the RGB + Lightning combination is quite interesting—getting both privacy and speed. We’ll wait to see how wallet support progresses.

Tether: USDT will return to Bitcoin through the RGB protocol.
Tether announced that USDT will be natively issued on Bitcoin via the RGB protocol, version v0.11.1, expected to launch within weeks, returning to the Bitcoin blockchain. RGB combines client-side validation with the Lightning Network, allowing USDT to be sent and received using Bitcoin addresses and enabling instant off-chain payments with enhanced privacy. Utexo participated in the development, and multiple wallets and exchanges plan to provide support.
