My youth is back! The 20-year-old RTS masterpiece can actually do two-finger zoom and “pull/select-and-drag troops” on iPad—this combo of an open-source engine plus Metal translation is a really beautiful execution.

Google AI Studio Product Design Lead uses Claude Fable 5 to natively port Command & Conquer: Generals
Google AI Studio design lead Ammaar Reshi announced that the 2003 classic game **Command & Conquer: Generals – Zero Hour** has been ported to Mac, iPhone, and iPad, achieving ARM64 by recompiling the engine without needing an emulator. Anthropic Claude Fable 5 helps address iOS sandbox and memory limitations, customizing touch logic such as two-finger panning, zooming, and unit selection. Using DXVK/MoltenVK to convert DirectX 8 to Metal, the code has been open-sourced on GitHub; you need to provide the original game files yourself. On low-memory iPads, it may crash.
