Cadence Electronics Partners with NVIDIA to Launch the Industry’s First Fully Autonomous Chip Design AI Virtual Engineer
Cadence Electronics (Cadence) in collaboration with NVIDIA has released the industry’s first AI virtual engineer capable of fully autonomous chip design, upgrading the Chip Stack AI super-intelligent agent to Level-5 autonomy. According to reports, this solution integrates Cadence EDA products, NVIDIA’s Nemotron large model, and relies on the NVIDIA OpenShell sandbox environment to ensure data and intellectual property security. It can independently complete the entire chip design and verification process, reducing the traditional RTL verification cycle from about five weeks to within one day, achieving over 40 times efficiency improvement. The related Level-5 autonomous features are expected to be available to early customers in the second half of 2026.
