ZEC is a popular cryptocurrency focused on privacy. Recently, Zcash (ZEC) patched a vulnerability that allowed the creation of unlimited ZEC in its Orchard pool. This vulnerability, active from May 2022 to June 1, 2024, theoretically enables an attacker to mint an unlimited amount of ZEC in a private pool without detection. The flaw was discovered and reported by security researcher Taylor Hornby. The project has fixed this vulnerability, but due to its security features, it cannot confirm whether any historical exploitation has occurred.
