The once legendary Tianya, gathering internet giants, is back. This memory belonging to the 70s and 80s carries the data of the past with its return.

According to media reports, Tianya, the pioneering forum of China's internet era, was once a gathering place for internet experts and a think tank of public opinion, a mainstream discussion platform for social issues, and the birthplace of many creative geniuses and classic works.
Founded in the early days of China's internet in 1999, it later saw traffic diverted due to the rapid growth of platforms like Zhihu. Poor management led to Tianya Community suspending access in April 2023, and on May 27, access was halted due to financial difficulties, officially shutting down.
On June 1, 2026, Tianya Community launched a new domain to return to the public eye, with the official promise to retain all historical data. For China's internet, although Tianya has undergone many updates since then, its core remains a forum, which made it appear significantly outdated during the rapid development of the internet.
However, for Chinese netizens, Tianya Community is a valuable database in the history of China's internet, even considered an early data encyclopedia of Chinese internet, making it extraordinarily meaningful.
We hope that this time’s return will see Tianya Community strengthen its commercial, product, and content governance capabilities, not just rely on nostalgia without progress. It can become an evergreen tree of China's internet!
As a creator, I sincerely hope that this former utopia remains the spiritual sanctuary for creators, not tarnished by AI plagiarism, and continues to be a birthplace of various water articles!
