A man in Qingdao helped an acquaintance register a wallet and stole 107 BTC, sentenced to 10 years and 9 months for theft. On May 31, the Qingdao Licang District Procuratorate in Shandong handled a Bitcoin theft case.
The defendant, Zhang Moumou, obtained the mnemonic phrase while assisting an acquaintance in registering a virtual currency wallet, and transferred 107 BTC in multiple transactions, which is worth over 50 million yuan at current market prices.
Next, three things need to be monitored: whether related funds continue to flow in, whether on-chain transaction volume and holdings continue to expand, and whether the project team or regulators provide new confirmation information.
A single news flash can only indicate that sentiment has been ignited; subsequent data will determine whether it can settle into a trend.
Risks should also be brought to the table: Zhang Moumou claimed it was "protective takeover," but prosecutors found he transferred BTC across multiple platforms and exchanged it for more than 660k yuan in RMB.
The Licang District Court sentenced Zhang Moumou to 10 years and 9 months in prison for theft in the first instance, with a fine of 100k yuan; the second instance upheld the original verdict.
