Trump Iran War Poll "Avalanche": Most Americans Just Want to Withdraw Troops Quickly to Cut Losses
A Fox News poll indicates that only 39% of voters support "indefinite fighting until goals are achieved," while 61% prefer a clear deadline for withdrawal.
A joint poll by The New York Times and Siena College shows that 52% of voters believe that even if a nuclear deal with Iran cannot be reached, the U.S. should cease military operations.
Meanwhile, only 22% of respondents believe the war can "completely succeed" in destroying Iran's nuclear program, and 65% of Americans "do not believe" that a ceasefire agreement can truly prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
Reports state that the hardline goals previously proposed by Trump, such as "unconditional surrender," are gradually softening, and the recent exposure of a potential peace agreement has faced strong opposition from hawks within the Republican Party, with some even warning that the agreement could make Iran stronger than before the war.
A latest CNN poll shows that only 20% of Americans "strongly trust" Trump's ability to handle Iran issues, while 59% say they "do not trust much" or "do not trust at all."
Analysts believe that Trump has neither proposed a clear and feasible plan to end the conflict nor successfully persuaded the American public to support a long-term war, and is now facing both public opinion and intra-party pressure.
