Hashrate Index: Analysis of Bolivia's Bitcoin Mining Landscape in 2026


Bolivia's previous hash rate surged by 2,400%, mainly due to short-term electricity price arbitrage from government subsidies for natural gas, but as natural gas import pressures increase, the dividend is receding.
What truly has long-term value is Alps and local partners settling in USD, using a self-consumption model, revitalizing the 127MW idle thermal power plant in Cochabamba, bypassing local currency exchange rate distortions, and bringing foreign exchange income to the government.
In the long term, Bolivia still has energy potential in hydropower, photovoltaics, and geothermal energy. If a stable regulatory framework can be established and institutional capital attracted, it may replicate Paraguay's mining rise path.
