Last night the network was a bit congested, and sending a transfer felt like waiting in line in the mempool: first it gets broadcasted, then you wait to see if miners/packagers are willing to include you, if the fee isn’t enough it just stays stuck, and if luck isn’t on your side, someone with a higher fee might “cut in line.” Staring at the confirmation count anxiously doesn’t help... I usually just hold back and only add more fee if it’s really urgent; if it’s not urgent, I treat it as a cooling-off period.

Later I realized that the most torturous part of this is actually psychological: the more congested it is, the more I want to repeatedly resend, and it’s easier to fall for strange phishing links claiming to “speed up” the process. Recently, hardware wallets have been out of stock, so everyone’s security awareness has increased, but don’t panic and lose your judgment either—taking it slow is perfectly fine.
