I recently found a quite interesting dataset comparing the military strengths of these two countries. Looking at the populations of Iran and Israel, the difference is really significant.

Iran has about 92.4 million people, while Israel only has around 9.5 million. But what's interesting is that when looking at military forces, the picture is completely different. Iran has 610,000 active troops and 350,000 reserves, but Israel has 465,000 reserves compared to 170,000 active troops. This shows a completely different military organization.

In terms of finances, Israel spends $30.5 billion on defense, twice as much as Iran's $15.4 billion. Israel's foreign exchange reserves are also significantly higher — $204.6 billion compared to Iran's $120.6 billion. However, Iran has much lower foreign debt, only $4.1 billion versus Israel's $148.5 billion.

Looking at the air force, both countries have around 500-600 aircraft, but Israel has 240 fighter jets compared to Iran's 188. Attack helicopters are also a major difference — Israel owns 48, while Iran has only 13.

On the ground, Iran has an advantage with 1,713 tanks compared to Israel's 1,300, and possesses 65,825 armored vehicles versus 35,985 of the opponent. In terms of navy, Iran also leads with 107 ships and 25 submarines, compared to 62 ships and 5 submarines of Israel.

What truly makes a difference is natural resources. Iran produces 3.98 million barrels of oil per day, while Israel only produces 15,000 barrels. Regarding nuclear warheads, Israel has 90 warheads, while Iran has none. Looking at the populations of Iran and Israel along with other factors, we can see that each country has its own advantages — Iran relies on scale and resources, Israel on technology and finances.
