I saw a friend asking about the stock market opening and closing schedule frequently, so I remembered these numbers well. The Thai stock market is divided into two sessions: morning and afternoon, not open all day.
The morning session starts at 10:00 AM and ends at 12:30 PM. But before the actual opening, from 9:30 AM, the system begins collecting buy and sell orders. The period from 9:55 to 10:00 AM is a random opening time, which does not open at the same time every day to prevent price manipulation.
For the afternoon session, the market pauses from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM, then reopens from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Before the afternoon opening (2:00-2:25 PM), orders are also collected, followed by a random time period from 2:25 to 2:30 PM.
At market close at 4:30 PM, there is a 5-minute pre-close period (4:30-4:35 PM), and a final random closing period from 4:35 to 4:40 PM.
This stock opening and closing schedule is quite important if you trade seriously because the opening and closing periods tend to be highly volatile. Some traders like to speculate during these times, while others avoid them. Knowing the schedule precisely is essential; otherwise, you might miss critical moments.
