Many people ask which days the stock market is closed, and what the opening and closing times are for each session. If you want to trade stocks for real, you need to understand this clearly.

The Thai stock market is divided into 2 sessions: the morning session and the afternoon session. From 9:30-9:55 AM is the pre-open period, when the system collects orders, and from 9:55-10:00 AM is the random opening time period. The actual opening time varies every day. The morning trading hours are from 10:00-12:30 PM. The afternoon session starts at 14:30 and closes at exactly 16:40, because there is a pre-close period from 16:30-16:35 and a random closing time from 16:35-16:40.

In fact, which days the stock market is closed depends on the Securities Exchange calendar. It is normally closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. The market usually opens from Monday to Friday, but you still need to check the calendar because sometimes there are special holidays.

The market open time period is very important because it’s when prices fluctuate the most. News comes in from the morning, and there are also pending orders from the previous day. Once you know the market’s opening and closing times, you’ll know which days you can trade and which days you need to stay off, making it easier to plan your trades.

We recommend that beginners start trading during market opening hours, because liquidity is better and price movements are clearer. When you know which days the stock market is closed and what time it opens, you’ll have an advantage in planning your trades.
