Looking at how Messi's wealth has evolved over the past decade, it's impressive to see how his fortune has tripled since 2016. He started around 280 million and now we're talking about figures close to 900 million for this year.
The interesting thing is that the growth was not linear. There was a notable jump between 2020 and 2021, when it went from 400 to 600 million, probably due to his elite sponsorship deals and strategic moves in Europe. Then it remained quite stable for a couple of years before growing again.
Messi's wealth numbers reflect much more than just his salary as a footballer. We're talking about multi-million dollar contracts, record-breaking advertising deals, and commercial partnerships on both sides of the Atlantic. Not counting the tournaments won and high-profile transfers that definitely influenced his brand value.
If the projection of 900 million for 2026 is met, he would have nearly tripled his fortune in a decade. Quite impressive considering how he's managed to monetize his career beyond the field.
