Just checked the latest cost of living rankings and Switzerland is absolutely dominating. Zurich, Geneva, and Basel aren't just expensive—they're the most expensive cities in the world right now, with scores ranging from 110 to 112. Everything costs a fortune there, but the salaries are insane too, so locals seem to manage. What surprised me is how the US actually competes pretty hard on this list. New York's the baseline at 100, but San Francisco, Honolulu, and even Seattle are all in the top tier. California real estate alone is pushing those cities way up.

The interesting part is that most of the most expensive cities in the world are concentrated in just a few countries. Switzerland takes six of the top spots, Norway has multiple entries, and the US keeps popping up everywhere. Singapore and Tel Aviv show up too, but Europe really dominates this ranking. I'm curious how these cities maintain their appeal when living costs are this brutal. Guess high salaries and quality of life are the trade-off for most people considering these most expensive cities in the world as options.
