Tongtong Finance APP has learned that the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance released the monthly information for power batteries in April 2026. In April, domestic power battery vehicle installations reached 62.4 GWh, a month-on-month increase of 10.4% and a year-on-year increase of 15.2%. Among them, ternary batteries were installed at 11.5 GWh, accounting for 18.5% of total installations, a month-on-month increase of 7.6% and a year-on-year increase of 24.2%; lithium iron phosphate batteries were installed at 50.8 GWh, accounting for 81.5% of total installations, a month-on-month increase of 11.0% and a year-on-year increase of 13.4%.
From January to April, the cumulative domestic power battery installations totaled 187.2 GWh, a year-on-year increase of 1.6%. Among them, ternary batteries totaled 37.4 GWh, accounting for 20.0% of total installations, with a cumulative year-on-year increase of 8.9%; lithium iron phosphate batteries totaled 149.8 GWh, accounting for 80.0%, with a slight decrease of 0.1% year-on-year.
Production volume:
In April, China’s total production of power and energy storage batteries was 183.9 GWh, a month-on-month increase of 3.5% and a year-on-year increase of 55.6%.
From January to April, the cumulative production of power and energy storage batteries in China reached 671.3 GWh, a year-on-year increase of 51.0%.
Sales volume:
In April, China’s power and energy storage batteries sold 164.2 GWh, a decrease of 6.2% month-on-month but an increase of 39.0% year-on-year. Among them, power batteries sold 108.9 GWh, accounting for 66.4% of total sales, a month-on-month decrease of 5.0% and a year-on-year increase of 25.8%; energy storage batteries sold 55.2 GWh, accounting for 33.6%, a decrease of 8.5% month-on-month and a 75.5% increase year-on-year.
From January to April, the cumulative sales of power and energy storage batteries in China reached 601.2 GWh, a year-on-year increase of 48.9%. Among them, power batteries totaled 400.9 GWh, accounting for 66.7% of total sales, with a cumulative increase of 31.9%; energy storage batteries totaled 200.4 GWh, accounting for 33.3%, with a year-on-year increase of 100.4%.
In April, influenced by the new export tax rebate policy, China’s total exports of power and energy storage batteries reached 31.7 GWh, a decrease of 12.3% month-on-month but an increase of 42.0% year-on-year, accounting for 19.3% of that month’s sales. Among them, exports of power batteries were 20.2 GWh, accounting for 63.9% of total exports, a decrease of 9.0% month-on-month and an increase of 40.1% year-on-year; exports of energy storage batteries were 11.4 GWh, accounting for 36.1%, a decrease of 17.4% month-on-month and an increase of 45.4% year-on-year.
From January to April, China’s cumulative exports of power and energy storage batteries reached 115.8 GWh, a year-on-year increase of 38.1%, accounting for 19.3% of cumulative sales. Among them, power batteries exported 77.1 GWh, accounting for 66.6% of total exports, with a year-on-year increase of 47.5%; energy storage batteries exported 38.7 GWh, accounting for 33.4%, with a year-on-year increase of 22.5%.
