Recently looked into how much those once-popular Move to Earn projects can still earn now, and the results were a bit surprising. According to data, the four classic M2E games—STEPN, Genopets, Walken, and Sweatcoin—players can earn less than $1 in profit after deducting costs each day.
Specifically, Genopets still earns the most, about 30 KI tokens daily, with 10 tokens deducted for costs leaving only $0.26. Walken players can reach the maximum limit and earn 3.6 WLKN, which is roughly $0.10. The most shocking is STEPN—average shoes earn 8 GST per day, with 3 tokens deducted for costs, leaving only $0.06. Sweatcoin is the worst—averaging 1.3 SWEAT per day, worth just $0.008.
Looking back at the token performance of these projects makes it even more heartbreaking. STEPN’s GST dropped from a peak of $8.51 to now, a nearly 80% decline; Genopets’ KI fell from $0.40 to $0.007, a drop of over 98%; SWEAT also declined by 68%; WLKN has fallen the least but still dropped over 80%.
Honestly, current Move to Earn games can no longer sustain profits. Rather than being a money-making tool, it’s better to see it as a feature to motivate oneself to develop exercise habits. The earnings are minimal, but at least it can encourage you to move more.
