Zelensky meets with German Defense Minister to advance multiple military and energy collaborations

On the 11th local time, Ukrainian President Zelensky met with visiting German Defense Minister Pistorius in Kyiv. The two sides held consultations focused on issues including joint weapons production and drone cooperation, and reached consensus. Zelensky said that Germany’s cumulative military assistance to Ukraine has reached 28.6 billion euros, and that the two countries are currently advancing six joint weapons production projects. This initiative marks an important start in military technology cooperation between the two sides. During the meeting, the two sides finalized a 10-year drone cooperation agreement. Zelensky expressed his thanks to Germany for the Ukraine air defense systems support agreement signed last month, but has not yet disclosed the specific details of the agreement. Zelensky also spoke highly of the assistance Germany has provided to Ukraine in the energy sector, and revealed that Pistorius had visited an energy facility in Ukraine in person before the meeting. In addition, on the same day, the defense ministers of Ukraine and Germany signed a memorandum of cooperation, officially launching the “Brave Germany” joint program to help the development of defense technology R&D and innovative startup companies.
