#Polymarket百U战神挑战 Facing the hot Polymarket prediction market, do you feel confused and at a loss, unsure where to start? Don't worry, the Gate Polymarket beginner's tutorial is here. Feel free to take what you need, no thanks necessary 😃😃😃
1. What is Gate Polymarket?
Gate is the first centralized exchange integrated with Polymarket prediction markets. Polymarket is the world's largest decentralized prediction market platform, allowing users to trade on the outcomes of real-world events—from sports competitions, cryptocurrency trends, to financial data and political events, all can be trading targets.
Through the Polymarket module within the Gate App, you don't need any on-chain operations; you can participate in prediction trading directly using USDT in your spot account, experiencing the process as simple as regular spot trading. Additionally, the platform also supports Web3 wallet login options, providing more choices for users familiar with on-chain operations.
Gate retains the core mechanism of Polymarket while innovatively introducing a dual interaction structure of prediction mode and trading mode, catering to both beginners and experienced traders.
2. How to access Polymarket?
⚠️ Currently, Polymarket is only available within the Gate App; the web version is not supported yet. Please ensure your Gate App is upgraded to version v8.15 or above for the best experience.
Operation steps:
1 Open the Gate App
Go to the homepage and click on "Markets" in the bottom navigation bar
2 Find "Alpha Predictions" in the market categories
Enter the Polymarket module
Or: Scroll down on the homepage to the Polymarket section and click "More >" on the right to view all market listings.
3. Two login and participation methods
Gate Polymarket supports two ways to participate; you can choose based on your situation:
Method 1: Login with a Gate account (recommended for beginners)
1 Log in directly with your Gate exchange account
2 Use USDT in your spot account to participate in prediction trading
3 No on-chain operations needed; experience is the same as regular trading
4 Funds are managed within your Gate account
Suitable for: Users who already have a Gate account and beginners unfamiliar with on-chain operations
Method 2: Web3 wallet login
1 Connect and log in using a Web3 wallet (such as MetaMask)
2 Use USDC on the Polygon network for trading and settlement
Funds are handled on-chain
3 Manage your wallet and on-chain operations yourself
Suitable for: Users familiar with on-chain operations who prefer a decentralized experience
4. Understanding prediction markets: Yes / No shares
Each Polymarket market is a question about a future event, for example: "Will BTC break $100k in June?"
You can buy two types of shares:
Yes shares: You believe the event will happen
No shares: You believe the event will not happen
Price = Probability: If the current Yes share price is 0.65 USDT, it indicates the market estimates about a 65% chance of the event occurring. The No share price would then be 1 - 0.65 = 0.35 USDT.
Settlement rules:
Event outcome "Yes" → Yes shares settle at 1 USDC/USDT, No shares settle at 0
Event outcome "No" → No shares settle at 1 USDC/USDT, Yes shares settle at 0
Based on the final announced market result
Profit example: You buy 100 Yes shares at 0.65 USDT each, costing 65 USDT. If the event occurs, Yes shares settle at 1 USDT, and you receive 100 USDT, net profit of 35 USDT. If the event does not occur, you lose 65 USDT.
Midway selling: You don't have to wait until the event ends. If the Yes share price rises from 0.65 to 0.80, you can sell directly to lock in profits. Price fluctuations themselves are profit opportunities.
5. Two interaction modes
1 Prediction mode (suitable for beginners)
Displays market information in a straightforward "probability + odds" format
Allows quick understanding of market expectations and potential returns at a glance
Reduces participation barriers, helping ordinary users understand and participate quickly
Supports quick trading functions, allowing direct purchase on the list page without entering the trading page
2 Trading mode (suitable for professional traders)
Provides complete order book, price charts, and candlestick charts
Supports market orders, limit orders, and share selling
Offers a trading experience closer to financial derivatives
Suitable for users needing strategy analysis and precise order placement
6. How to place orders and trade
1 Quick buy (direct operation on the list page)
2 Browse events of interest in the market list page
3 View probability trends, odds, and market heat
4 Click the buy button directly, choose Yes or No
5 Enter the amount, confirm the order
6 Detailed trading (enter market detail page)
7 Click on a specific event to view details
8 View probability trend charts, candlestick charts, and order book data
9 Choose trading direction (Buy Yes / Buy No)
Choose order method:
1 Market order: execute immediately at the best current price
2 Limit order: set a target price and wait for the market to reach it
3 Enter quantity and amount, confirm order
Order placement rules:
Orders must meet both conditions:
1 Amount ≥ 1 USDT
2 Shares ≥ 5 shares
If the market price is high (e.g., > 0.20 USDT/share), you might not be able to buy 5 shares with 1 USDT; in this case, increase the purchase amount to meet the minimum share requirement.
7. Partial fill of market orders
Using a market order may result in only partial execution. This is a normal slippage protection mechanism:
Trigger reason: Market volatility or insufficient order book depth
Protection mechanism: To avoid excessive slippage losses, the system only matches at the best available price
Partially filled: can be viewed in the "Positions" page
Unfilled part: automatically canceled, remaining funds are instantly refunded to your account
If after partial fill you find no refund, contact Gate customer service and provide screenshots of your positions, orders, and history pages for verification.
8. Position management and selling
1 View positions
On the Polymarket "Positions" page, you can view all holdings of Yes / No shares, current value, and profit/loss. Gate integrates prediction markets with spot accounts, allowing you to view USDT balance and prediction market position value in one place.
2 Sell positions
a Enter the positions page, select the position to sell
b Click sell, choose the selling method (market/limit/share sale)
c Confirm the sale
If the position cannot be sold, possible reasons include:
a Market closed: trading has stopped, wait for final settlement
b Insufficient market liquidity: no matching orders, try again during higher liquidity
c Rapid price fluctuations: quotes become invalid, refresh and re-quote
9. Settlement and profit collection
1 Settlement process
After the event ends, Polymarket confirms results via UMA optimistic oracle:
Market closes, and the approved proposer submits a result proposal
A 2-hour challenge period follows, during which anyone can raise objections
If no objections are raised, the result is automatically finalized
Shares in the correct direction settle at 1 USDT/USDC, incorrect at 0
Most markets settle normally without entering dispute processes.
2 Claiming profits
After settlement:
In the positions page, settled positions will have a "Claim" button next to them
Click one-click claim, and the system automatically exchanges the correctly predicted contracts at a 1:1 ratio into stablecoins
Profits are automatically transferred to your spot account (Gate account method) or on-chain wallet (Web3 wallet method)
