According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the cruise ship "Hondiurus" experienced a hantavirus outbreak during its voyage across the Atlantic.
On May 8, the CDC activated its Emergency Operations Center and classified this outbreak as a Level 3 emergency response, the lowest of the three response levels.
The CDC confirmed that American citizens on board will be quarantined in Nebraska upon their return.
The agency assessed the overall public health risk as low while continuing to monitor the situation.
