U.S. Senators Question Meta Over Crypto Plans
U.S. Senators have sent a letter to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg seeking clarification on the company’s possible return to cryptocurrency or stablecoin projects.
Lawmakers are mainly concerned about financial stability, user privacy, and regulatory risks if Meta integrates digital payments across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp.
This comes after Meta’s earlier crypto project, Libra (later Diem), faced strong regulatory pushback and was eventually shut down.
Overall, regulators are asking Meta to clearly explain its plans before moving further into the crypto space.
