Just came across something pretty interesting about UK Prime Ministers and their wealth trajectories. The contrast is wild when you look at how much their net worth changed after leaving office.
Some of them barely moved the needle financially - like Clement Attlee went from 500K to 600K, which is pretty modest. But then you've got cases where things shifted dramatically. Margaret Thatcher jumped from 10M to 60M. Tony Blair went from 1M to a whopping 70M. David Cameron's wealth grew from 50M to 70M.
What's really striking is john major net worth progression - started at around 1M and ended up at 6M by the time everything was said and done. Not as extreme as some others, but still a notable increase.
Rishi Sunak's situation is completely different though - he came in at 900M and stayed there. That's already generational wealth before even taking the job.
The wealth gap between these leaders is honestly eye-opening. Some like Keir Starmer holding steady around 8M+, while others saw their fortunes multiply several times over. Makes you wonder what factors drive these changes - book deals, speaking engagements, board positions, or just smart investments after leaving politics.
Anyone else notice how the more recent PMs tend to have higher starting wealth? The whole dynamic seems to have shifted over the decades.
