Just checked the latest global gold reserves ranking and it's pretty interesting how concentrated they are. The US still dominates with over 8,100 tonnes, which is almost double what Germany holds at around 3,350 tonnes. Then you've got Italy, France, and Russia all bunched together in the 2,300-2,450 range. What caught my eye is how the countries with most gold reserves are mostly Western nations, but China's climbing up there with 2,279 tonnes. Switzerland's sitting at just over 1,000 tonnes despite being this financial powerhouse. India, Japan, and Netherlands round out the top 10, all under 900 tonnes. It's wild how much of the world's gold is locked up by these few nations. Makes you think about why some countries are so focused on building their gold reserves while others don't seem to prioritize it as much.
