Iran: Hormuz Will Not Return to Pre-War Status

On May 4, it was reported that on May 2, Ali Nikzad, the Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Parliament, emphasized during an interview along the Strait of Hormuz that “the Strait of Hormuz will not return to its pre-war status, and Iran will absolutely not take a step back from the Strait of Hormuz.” Nikzad stated that the parliament will approve a “Hormuz Strait Management Law,” which includes: a permanent ban on Israeli vessels passing through this critical waterway; vessels from “hostile countries” must pay “war reparations” to obtain passage permits; and other vessels must obtain authorization from Iran to pass through.
