CryptoWorld News reports that New York State Attorney General Letitia James announced that Uphold will pay more than $5 million to resolve allegations related to its promotion of Credearn. The settlement involves the crypto savings product Credearn, which Uphold promoted between 2019 and 2020. New York State said the product misled investors and failed to clearly explain the risks. Uphold was also accused of not informing customers that Cred operated through risk loans, and that the insurance claimed to exist did not exist. Under the settlement agreement, Uphold will directly pay affected customers more than $5 million, an amount that exceeds the fees Uphold received from the arrangement.
