"Federal Reserve mouthpiece": Wosh's nomination rarely voted along party lines and was approved by the Senate committee
Golden Finance reports on April 29 that “Fed whisperer” Nick Timiraos said Kevin Waugh’s nomination for Federal Reserve Chair was approved as expected in the Senate Banking Committee via a party-line vote of 13-11, with no Democrats voting in favor. Democratic Senator Warnock said he was disappointed by Waugh’s written responses, asking, “Did he take this process seriously?” Timiraos said this was the first time the committee had voted on a Federal Reserve Chair nomination along party lines. Before 2020, party-line votes for Federal Reserve nominees were extremely rare. Previously, the two Federal Reserve Chair votes (both for Powell) were approved with votes of 22-1 and 23-1, respectively.
