Just realized how much I've been overpaying for gas without even trying. Found out there's actually a few solid ways to find the cheapest gas prices near you instead of just pulling up to whatever station is closest.
So like, GasBuddy is probably the easiest—they've got an app and website where you can literally search by location and see which stations are cheapest around you. Google Maps does this too, shows gas prices right there when you search for stations. Waze is another one that helps you spot cheaper options while navigating. Even Geico has a tool for this if you're already on their site.
The key thing I learned is to actually do the research before you drive. Sounds obvious but I used to just drive around hunting for deals, which obviously wastes gas and defeats the whole purpose lol. Total waste.
If you're serious about saving on fuel, joining Costco or Sam's Club actually pays off—their gas is noticeably cheaper if you're filling up regularly. Gas rewards programs at stations give you discounts per gallon too, adds up over time. And honestly, just planning your errands smarter helps—grouping trips together means you use way less gas overall.
One more thing: if you use a credit card for gas, get one with actual rewards. Some cards give you decent cash back every time you pump, which is basically free money if you're already buying gas anyway.
Anyone else been sleeping on these ways to find cheapest gas? Feels like I'm saving way more now that I actually check first.
