Crypto World News reports that EU authorities say the Iran conflict is fueling a surge in pirate attacks off the coast of Somalia.

An EU naval unit responsible for patrolling the Somali region stated that at least three hijacking incidents have been confirmed in the past week, with pirates boarding two cargo ships and one oil tanker.
The attacks occurred in the semi-autonomous region of Puntland, which was a haven for pirates in the late 2000s.
EU Naval Operation "Atalanta" said the increase in pirate activity is due to regional instability, initially related to Houthi attacks, and now connected to the Strait of Hormuz crisis.
The agency also noted that illegal fishing activities have further exacerbated this threat.
